For the last 3-4 months when I open Excel it wants to recover every excel spreadsheet I've opened over the last few months. So you wait until it is done opening everything and then go and close everything. Sometimes it wants you to save the file and sometimes it just closes.

My fix has been to try to not close Excel and then just go open the files I want, save them and close them. But this has now become a big burden. About the same time this started to happen, I found another problem. Excel will not print a worksheet within a workbook! All it shows is a blank page! Typically I'll save the workbook as a PDF to send to a client.

But now I have to copy it, and pasted it onto a Word document. Double help again???? Thank you all in advance. Hi Loyd, About the first problem, please try going to Excel menuPreferencesGeneralClick Clear button next to 'At Start-up, open all files in:' to see the result. If the issue persists, I'd like to confirm the following information to better understand your situation: 1. You Excel version build (Excel menuAbout Excel) and your Mac OS version build (Apple menuAbout this Mac). Does it prompt you to recover spreadsheets every time you open Excel for Mac?

Please help capture a screenshot of the message that prompts to recover Excel spreadsheets. About the printing problem, please check if it happens to all workbooks including new workbook. Please also try to connect to a different printer if possible to see the result. If the issue persists, I'd suggest post a new thread in this forum and we will focus on the issue separately. Regards, Joanne. Thank you for your recommendations. I checked the 'At Start-up, open all files in:' box and it is clear. I pressed Clear anyway, same problem.

My Excel is Version 16.11.1 (180319) and the OS is High Sierra Version 10.13.4 Each time I open Excel from being fully closed, I get this prompt: The application didn't quit unexpectedly, I closed it with everything saved. If I press the 'Open' button, then all of the files open that I have worked on over the last few months. If I do cancel, then a blank copy of Excel opens and then I can just go open whatever file I want to work with. I have not done a safe mode restart yet, but will and report if there is anything there. Hi Loyd, Thanks for the update. Please try the following steps to see if the issue can be fixed: 1. Quit all of your Office applications.

Clear Office credential caches: a. Quit Office applications and open Finder Applications Utilities Keychain Access b. Remove the following: Microsoft office Identities Cache 2 Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2 3. Remove activation files a.

Go to the Library folder and open Group Containers. Ctrl+ click each of these folders if present, and Move to Trash. UBF8T346G9.ms UBF8T346G9.Office UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost b. Restart your mac, open Excel 2016 for Mac and sign in with your account. Warning: Outlook data will be removed when you move the three folders listed in this step to Trash. You should back up these folders before you delete them.

Regards, Joanne. Hi Joanne, I have not tried this yet as I needed my laptop to be fully functional for a business trip and 2 meetings that I'm currently traveling to. Odds are I'll try it over the weekend when I have the time to mess with things if they become complicated (And for some reason these things always take more time than you plan for them to as we all know.) The mondo spreadsheet I spose about above is one that I absolutely need to have in my meetings, so since I won't need to print anything from it, and if I have to I know I can copy and pasted it to a Word or email document, I felt it would be safer to wait a few days before tackling this project. Thanks for checking.
